Welcome to the A-League Offside!
By: Daniel | May 12th, 2008
G’DAY! and welcome to the very first Official A-league blog on The Offside covering all things Aussie football!
The names Daniel and ill be your Blogger, coming to you live from Melbourne, Down Under!
From this Blog, you can expect frequent coverage on all things Aussie Football. So im talking post match reports, transfer rumours, FFA initiatives (Small Sided Games etc), links to various articles and any other player, coach and team Shenanigans i can muster up! Ohhh we’re going to have a cracker!
This Blog wont be confined solely to the A-League however, as i am committed to providing coverage of the Socceroos, Olyroos , Aussies abroad as well as the A-League involvement in the Asian Champions League.
What you wont find however, is me ever uttering the word “soccer” (other than reffering to the “Socceroos”). Those over at the egg ball code and their idiotic reporters can call the world game whatever they want but we know that our code is the only real Football.
A little about myself, Born in Australia from italian parents, living in Melbourne, ive grown up watching Serie A and the Italian side, trying to emulate Paolo Maldini as much as i could untill i recently broke my leg and have been out of the game for a year. I never had much interest in the Aussie national team or the NSL, thats untill Australia made the World Cup and the A-League was developed. I was in the stands that night in Sydney, when John Aloisi became a cult hero and have followed the game here through grass roots level to the national setup ever since. Now after being a regular reader of various Blogs, i thought it was about time to spread the word about Aussie football to the Offside and its many Australian posters.
As ive never made a blog before, this being the first one, im encouraging all you Aussie football fans out there to have regular discussions on my posts about various issues in the game. Give me shit if you want to, really, i want to provide the best coverage i can and its made a lot easier to write blogs when you have people out there reading what your writing and making comments accordingly.
Well i think thats about it for now, next post ill be getting down to it. We’ll be working on getting all the logos and colours organised so the place can look shmik! I’ll be looking forward to reading your comments and making frequent posts. Theres going to be a lot to talk about with Adelaide United looking to progress through the quarters in the ACL, the Socceroos and Olyroos gearing up for World Cup qualifiers and Olympics respectively and of course the Melbourne Victory Vs Juventus Game!
Stay Tuned!

Awesome. Great to see the A League on the Offside. It’s interesting to me how well Adelaide has done in the CL, and how poorly Melbourne has. I really look forward to checking up on the Aussie game. Welcome.

Welcome! I’m looking forward to being the lone Kiwi waving the Wellington Phoenix flag (metaphorically, of course - I don’t actually have one) around here.
