Weekly Wrap (4/4)
By: Kieran | April 4th, 2009
Hey everyone, sorry but Part 2 of the season review is still not here (i know, sorry, by next weekend i promise). But instead we have the Weekly Wrap for the 4th of April, and the big news is:
Sydney sign Karol Kisel
Sydney yesterday announced their first transfer under new coach, Vitezslav Lavicka, signing Slovak international Karol Kisel. Until this, Kisel had been plying his trade with Czech heavy weight Sparta Prague. The 32 year old winger will fly into Sydney on April the 20th, to start pre season training. According to Sydney FC CEO, Stefan Kamasz, “Karol is a highly regarded player and was a priority signing for Vitja (Vitezslav Lavicka) who coached him at both Slovan Liberec and Sparta Prague.” Well, a good signing for Sydney, but i think they’ll be needing a few more before they can mount a serious title push.
Elsewhere, Perth CEO Scott Gooch has resigned from his post, to accept a position at AFL team the Fremantle Dockers. During his time at the Glory he’s been pretty successful, securing a major sponsorship deal with QBE. After his resignation Gooch said, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Perth Glory and it was an incredibly tough decision to leave during an exciting period for the club and the sport.” Perth’s Deputy Chairman Mr Lui Giulian will fill in until the club can find a replacement.
Finally, the Queensland Roar (or should i say Brisbane Roar) seem to be in trouble. This trouble thing doesn’t seem to stop does it, first Adelaide, now them, who next i wonder? But yes, apparently, the Roar are changing their name to the Brisbane Roar, since their no longer the only Queensland team. And along with this, they are apparently in need of a new investor, due to the large costs involved with playing at Suncorp. Fairfax newspapers reported on Friday that problems with their finances would force the Roar to surrender their license. But a club statement has been released, saying: “These reports are incorrect.” So, there you go. According to Roar CEO, all the club is doing is trying to find new investors, but i guess we’ll find out soon enough.
News in short:
Adelaide’s on the way to financial recovery
Robbie Fowler’s started training, and he thinks he’s already acclimatized, yer whatever…
Jets boss claims relations with Milicevic are all good again
Well thanks for reading, and i promise to have the second part of the season review by the end of the long weekend

I think the Roar’s stadium deal is a disgrace, they have to sell 15-16 000 seats to break even on rent, how stupid can you be to sign that. The FFA needs to crack down and get a new deal for the team, that highway robbery.
