Socceroos Draw to Brazil… aparently

By: Daniel | August 20th, 2008

Didn’t get to see the game as i was at work, just the highlights but the 1st goal we gave away was pretty shocking to say the least. For gods sake chippers! if you think the player your supposed to be marking is offside, don’t just stop to bitch and moan, just keep on him. I put the blame fully on you because if you wernt there having a cry that goal wouldn’t have hit the back of the net!

On the other hand Sterjovski and Kennedy goals were brilliant. love Miles cheeky voley over the keeper. You need both precision and timing for that and Sterji came up with the goods.

Seems to have a decent run out but there was a lot to think about as drawing with South Africa souldnt be acceptable, friendly or not.

Not in the mind of SA coach Joel Santana however. He came up with this beauty:

“South Africa are similar to Brazil in the way they play - my players treat the ball with love and care”

“That’s why we play football. I would never want to play the way Australia play - my players don’t have those characteristics.”

alright mate, you draw with Aus and you compare yourself with Brazil… cant think of you guys doing anything in your history.

This Santanta (guitar player anybody?) is an idiot. I know Australia plays the physical game, but SA is hardly known for it display of the beautiful game. Quality goals all round in the wash. Dissapointing to see Nicky Carle not get some run on time. I don’t think Beeker’s formation suits him, but oh well. We are going to need to start to play some younger players, blood ‘em. Especially Williams and Vidosic.

Rory, trust me, the reason why Nicky didnt play a full match start to finish really escapes me! Dont know what he needs to do to convince Pim to put him in there!

In regards to Williams and Vidosic.. i dont think that the national team should be used as a place to ‘blood’ youngsters. I think that should be left to the Olyroos… But Arnold screwed that theory up for me ey lol

i agree in terms of those players like spiranovic who have shown their worth at younger levels and are taking the next step in the process by progressing into the national team. but we cant just chuck any tom dick and harry youngster into the national team no matter what game we’re playing. that just devalues the national team shirt

True, but I’d defiantly take Vidosic over Holman and I hold Williams at the same level as Djite.
