His football career started in the ACT Premier League before he was invited to train with the Australian Institute of Sport where coach Steve O’Connor was so impressed Kofi earned a scholarship.
Once the Youth League was introduced Steve O’Connor was signed by Sydney FC as a Youth Coach, where he wasted no time in bringing Danning over. Kofi eventually signed a senior contract for 2 year deal and was given shirt number 11.
Kofi wasted no time in becoming an influential figure in the side that won the first ever Youth League Grand Final 2-0 over Adelaide.
Kofi’s form late in the 2008-09 season saw him make his debut against Adelaide which Sydney also won 2-0, and he scored his first goal in his second match against Wellington, which proved to be the match winner at 1-0, he was only 17 years old. He made his first start for Sydney a week later where he scored his second career goal in the 3-1 lost to Queensland.
