I was a big fan of the A-League this year (which is hard to do stateside) - got hooked right around when the rumors of Robbie Fowler to Sydney FC were flying - and what amazed me was how far that league has come in such a short time. 3 years, and you already seem to be about where the MLS was after 9 or 10.

That said, I don't think the A-League is ready for promotion/relegation. The MLS isn't ready for promotion/relegation. Focus on the slow, steady expansion first; then work on getting the salary cap to a point where the guys at the bottom are making a decent living and the guys at the top have a reason not to leave. THEN you can start thinking about teaching a nation about promotion/relegation, but the roots need to be firmly in place before any of that.

Great post, and great looking blog! Glad to see the A-League getting more love on The Offside! Looking forward to getting my updates from here!
