A League Round 14 Preview
Well round 14 is here, and while it won’t be nearly as exciting as last round (where I got to use my press pass to watch the game in Canberra), there are still some interesting clashes.

Adelaide United v Brisbane Roar 0-2
Melbourne Victory v Central Coast Mariners, Saturday, 7pm
Melbourne are looking good, and find themselves in second, one point behind Sydney. Central Coast are also going along nicely, and the point last week against Adelaide sees them sitting comfortably in fourth. While on paper Melbourne should take this game, Central Coast have an ability to pick up the surprising wins, and I see this trend continuing. CCM 2-1
Gold Coast United v Sydney FC, Saturday, 9pm
Gold Coast haven’t looked great, whereas Sydney are looking rather good, so I’m expecting Sydney to go out and show us why they deserve to be at the top of the table. Sydney 2-0
Wellington Phoenix v Perth Glory, Sunday, 3pm
Wellington have looked good on occasions (ie their wins over Gold Coast and Newcastle) but have also been horribly inconsistent, and find themselves sitting in sixth. Perth are also having trouble finding consistency, and are only one point above the Phoenix, in fifth. I have a feeling Perth will get a smash and grab here, and while the form guide may suggest a Wellington win, I’m predicting something akin to Inter v Dynamo midweek (in the CL). Perth 2-1

POLL: What Was The Right Punishment From Brosques Disallowed Goal

All Four Stands of Skilled Park to host Sydney FC v Gold Coast on Saturday
The picture on the left could, and may well be the future of the Gold Coast United franchise. This will not be a grudge post, but when you get someone with little heart with a million dollars to run a club, it slowly turns into a liability. This is the ...

Melbourne Break Perth Curse
Just a quick one today guys, I'm in the middle of exam's and very short on time.
Melbourne Victory: 2 (C Coyne own goal 6, Hernandez 67)
Perth Glory: 1 (Sterjovski 19)
Crowd: 10,035 at Members Equity Stadium
Melbourne just managed to edge a victory against Perth in front of a strong crowd.

No Victory For Glory
Perth Glory lost at home for the first time this season on Sunday arvo, with a 2-1 loss to champions Melbourne Victory.
I took in the game, arriving just in time to get a decent spot in the shade and amongst the festivities in The Shed.
But early on things didn't really go to plan and, to be honest, we didn't start well and it was ominous.

Brisbane Still Searching Four Win
Brisbane Roar have ended their four-match losing streak, but are still without a win, after a hard-fought 1-1 draw against the Newcastle Jets at Suncorp Stadium tonight.
A first-half penalty from Sergio van Dijk cancelled out Labinot Haliti’s opener to share the spoils after a dominant second-half performance from Brisbane drew ...

Check Mate, That's Eighth Straight!
With Tom Pondeljak out through injury Mate Dugandzic got the nod for his debut start for the club, while guest player Sutee Suksomkit replaced Fabiano as Archie's partner in crime. He proved the inspiration as Melbourne defeated Adeliade for the eighth consecutive time.
Melbourne Victory: 3 (Dugandzic 17, 56, Leijer 89)
Adelaide United: 1 (Hughes 64)
Crowd: 21,182 at Etihad Stadium
Melbourne were hoping to continue there impressive form against Adelaide as they had won every game in there past 7 meetings. With the 3-1 victory against the Jet's last week the match was more than just about a streak, it was about getting all 3 points and continuing there red hot form.

Sydney prepare to calm the storm
The party in NZ won’t be over just yet. It’ll probably still be going on until Sunday. Well at least among the fans. But why wouldn’t you be partying when you beat the new glamour team 6-0? It was a romping. It puts Wellington high on confidence as they travel ...

Losing To The Bottom Team Blows
Perth Glory went down 2-1 to NQ Fury on Saturday night up in Townsville in a pretty ordinary night for our lads.
Victor Sikora had put us ahead in the first-half, but second-half goals from Robbie Fowler and Dyron Daal gave NQF their first ever A-League home win.
But to be honest, we really need to be getting something out of fixtures like this is we're going to challenge. It seems we'll need home finals come finals-time, so finishing as high as possible is crucial but losses like this hurt.

Brisbane Go Down To Sydney
A whole-hearted display by a gallant Brisbane Roar outfit has fallen agonisingly short of taking a share of the spoils at the Sydney Football Stadium, losing 2-1 to table-topping Sydney FC.
Brisbane’s players left nothing on the pitch in another hard-fought encounter between the two sides, but could not quite find the goal to give them a much deserved point on the road.

Sydney FC hold on to Claim Top of the Table
Over 8,000 fans (plus Dwight Yorke) witnessed Sydney FC claim the top of the table this afternoon at the Sydney Football Stadium. A scoreless first half left some fans sceptical, but 2 goals in 15 minutes sealed the match. Brisbane did score on 73', however that did little to ...

Youth Bag There First Win, As The Women Bounce Back
Youth Team
In this 5th round match Melbourne were tied at the bottom end with there opponents Newcastle on 3 points, AIS being bottom.
The first goal came from an unlucky source as young center back Matt Foschini poked the bakk home from a goal mouth scrabble after 14 minutes.
Youth captain Aziz Behich continued his good form scoring Melbourne's second from the spot after 29 minutes, the scoreline didn't change in the first half, Melbourne 2-0 up.
In the second half Newcastle made a late challenge when Jason Niadovski scored on 70 minutes, but the jets failed to to any oppourtunities in the dying stages and Melbourne Youth secured there first win of the season.
Newcastle Jets: 1 (Naidovski 70)
Melbourne Victory: 2 (Foschini 14, Behich 29p)
